Lockdown

Am letzten Samstag im August bin ich mit einem Freund aus der Straßenszene ausgegangen, und wir haben Maastricht mit unseren Kameras erobert.
Sein Name ist Florian.

Nachdem ich meine Hamburg Ausstellung angekündigt hatte hat mich die Firma Ricoh kontaktiert. Wir werden am Tag der Eröffnung ein crossover mit Ricoh machen. Mit einem Streetwalk in Hamburg. Genauere Infos werde ich später noch bekannt geben. Wie auch immer, Ricoh hat mir eine GR III zum testen geschickt. Bis auf ein Bild sind alle Fotos hier damit gemacht.

Wenn ich mit meiner Kamera durch die Straßen gehe, habe ich normalerweise kein Ziel. Die Menschen und das, was mit mir auf dem Weg passiert, das ist mein Ziel. Schon lange war ich nicht mehr mit meiner Kamera unterwegs, um Straßenfotografie zu machen. Und dann passieren sie wieder. Die magische Begegnungen. Und ich schoss dieses Bild.

Ich habe Steven in einem Bahnhof in Maastricht getroffen. Er ist 24 Jahre alt und lebt auf einem Bauernhof in Putten (ganz im Osten). Er arbeitet in der Filmindustrie als Freelancer. Er hat während dem Lockdown angefangen, Klavier zu spielen, weil er etwas brauchte, um sich abzulenken. Wenn man im Lockdown auf einem Bauernhof mit viel Natur um sich herum ist, kann es sehr einsam werden, und das hat sich als eines seiner Talente herausgestellt. Er versuchte, the „river flows into you" zu spielen, ich kenne den ursprünglichen Künstler nicht, aber sein Favorit ist Nuvole Bianchi von Ludovico Einaudi.
Ein für mich untypischer Bildstil. Aber ich liebe das schwarz-weiß-Spiel hier. Er ist nur sichtbar weil das Licht ihn säumt. Das pass so gut zu seiner Story. .

On the last Saturday in August I went out with a friend from the street scene and we conquered Maastricht with our cameras.

His name is Florian.

After I had announced my Hamburg exhibition the company Ricoh contacted me. We will do a crossover with Ricoh on the day of the opening. With a streetwalk in Hamburg. I will announce more details later. Anyway, Ricoh sent me a GR III for testing. Except for one picture, all photos here are taken with it.

When I walk through the streets with my camera, I don't usually have a target. The people and what happens to me on the way, that is my goal. I haven't been on the road with my camera to take street photography for a long time. And then they happen again. The magical encounters.
And I took this picture.

I met Steven in a train station in Maastricht. He is 24 years old and lives on a farm in Putten (far east). He works in the film industry as a freelancer. He started playing piano during the lockdown because he needed something to distract himself. When you are in lockdown on a farm with lots of nature around you, it can get very lonely, and this has turned out to be one of his talents. He tried to play the "river flows into you", I don't know the original artist, but his favorite is Nuvole Bianchi by Ludovico Einaudi.
An untypical photo look for me. But I love the black and white playing here. He is only visible because the light lines that borders him. That fits so well to his story. .
